Timeline
- Born at Eleusis in Attica in 524 B.C.E.
- Supposedly served in Athenian armies during Persian Wars, fighting at the battles of Marathon, Artemisium, Salamis and Plataea.
- Won first prize in tragedy at the Athenian drama festival between the years 484 and 468 B.C.E.
- Died in 455 B.C.E. at Gela in Sicily, supposedly because an eagle mistook his bald head for a rock and dropped a tortise on it, fulfilling the prophesy that Aeschylus was to die by "a blast from the heavens".
